Hopedale Cultural Council seeks new members

The Hopedale Cultural Council is currently seeking community members interested in serving on their council. There is at least one vacancy on the council that needs to be filled.

The Hopedale Cultural Council is part of a grassroots network of 329 Local Councils that serve every city and town in the state. The program is the largest, most decentralized one of its kind in the United States. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to Mass Cultural Council, which then allocates funds to each LCC.

The Hopedale Cultural Council is responsible for awarding grants each year to support cultural activities in town, using the funding the town receives from Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. The Hopedale Cultural Council generally meets 6 times a year on a weeknight. In addition to awarding grants the Hopedale Cultural Council organizes the Summer Band Concert Series as well as the Day in the Park.

The council currently consists of five people. These events cannot continue unless there are members of the community who are willing to volunteer their time.

Anyone interested in serving the council should contact the council at [email protected].
