Tips for parents, children, drivers 

Halloween is fast approaching, and the Hopedale Police Department would like to remind everyone to take a few extra precautions to help keep the night safe and enjoyable for our community.

Parents should make sure younger children are accompanied by an adult and that older children travel in groups. Please use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible, carry a flashlight, and wear bright or reflective clothing so drivers can see you. 

Drivers are asked to slow down and use extra caution in residential neighborhoods. Children can be unpredictable and may enter the roadway unexpectedly, so please stay alert and avoid distractions.

Residents who are handing out candy should keep walkways and porches well-lit and free of anything that could cause someone to trip. Pets should also be kept secure during trick-or-treating hours.

Parents should also check all candy and treats before children eat them.

Most importantly, please look out for one another and to help make Halloween a safe and enjoyable night for everyone in Hopedale.
