In September, I was pleased to join Senator Ryan Fattman and the Hopedale Select Board to recognize Tracey Philips for being a member of the Commonwealth Heroines Class of 2026.

Each year, the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women partners with state legislators to identify women who make outstanding contributions in their communities. The class this year is comprised of a historic 147 women from across the state, the largest class awarded to date.

Tracey has certainly served her community of Hopedale well. She is the key organizer for several events, including the Fairy Walk through the town’s Parklands with miniature houses and fairy tale characters set out; Winter Stroll throughout the historic and business districts; Halloween and Thanksgiving presentations for local businesses; and the Homeowners Christmas Decorations Contest.

These events, in addition to being enjoyed by the community, also generate revenue that benefits volunteer organizations such as the Friends of Historic Hopedale and the Friends of Hopedale Elders.
