The Bancroft Memorial Library will hold its second annual Halloween Costume Swap on Sat., Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Program Room. 

The library has approximately 50 costumes available for all ages, including 35 from last year and 15 newly donated this year, along with assorted accessories such as crowns, masks, and other costume pieces.

“The Costume Swap gives families a fun way to find free costumes while giving gently used costumes a new home,” said Library Director Keely Bethel-Penny. “It saves families money, encourages reuse, and keeps costumes circulating instead of ending up in the landfill (especially since children may only wear a costume once before outgrowing it).

The library held its first swap last year, which included 48 donated costumes and 30 odds-and-ends pieces, and was attended by 32 people. 

Bethel-Penny said, “Families really enjoyed having a fun way to kick off the Halloween season while saving money. They also appreciated the variety of unique costumes that you don’t always find in stores.” 

How it works: Bring a costume to swap, receive a ticket, and browse for a new-to-you costume to take home. Swap any costume for any other, regardless of size. If you don’t find something you love, take your original costume back or donate it for future swaps.
