Town Administrator Search Committee starts work

Aug 30, 2026 08:28PM ● By Theresa Knapp

Job description to be advertised shortly

The Hopedale Town Administrator Search Committee held its first meeting on Aug. 10. Jennifer Newman was elected as chairperson.

In August, the committee and Select Board collaborated to finalize the job description to be posted by the end of the month.

At the Select Board meeting on Aug. 10, Chairperson Glenda Hazard explained the next steps in the process. “We would post it for a month and the committee would go through the initial applicants and decide who would be viable to interview and start that process for us; and then eventually present us with a reasonable number of finalists, 3 or 4, to be interviewed publicly.”

“Part of the reason that we’re trying to do this in-house is to save the town some money because the search firms are expensive,” said Hazard. “But I think there’s general agreement that, after 30 days, if we don’t have suitable candidates, that we might then discuss bringing on that search committee.”

The job description will be posted on the Massachusetts Municipal Association website https://www.mma.org/municipal-marketplace/job-ads/.
