‘Plant a Seed, Read!’ is library summer reading theme

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in Bancroft Memorial Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program “Plant a Seed, Read!”

Registration for Summer Reading begins on Monday, June 1, and community members of all ages - from infants to adults - are encouraged to participate. The program is designed to keep readers engaged throughout the summer while offering fun activities and special events.

The official kickoff to Summer Reading will be held on Monday, June 22, at the library and features a live petting zoo with baby animals presented by Animal Craze.

Throughout the summer, programs will include opportunities to learn about bees, discover the importance of farm-to-table agriculture, and planting herbs in new raised garden beds that will be maintained outside the Library.  There will also be weekly events such as DragonCon, Movie Matinees, Arts & Crafts, Infant Tummy Time and more.

Adults and teens will receive reading logs to track their summer reading.  Children will participate in the popular Read n’ Bead Program which logs reading time while earning unique pony beads.  Each completed reading log earns a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of many prizes available in every age category.

The Friends of the Hopedale Library will also be hosting an online auction during the week of August 10th, featuring a variety of special items and community donations to bid on.

For more information and to register for programs, please visit the Event Calendar on the Library’s website www.bancroftmemoriallibrary.org or call the Library at 508-634-2209.
