Jan 26, 2026 09:57AM ● By Chuck Tashjian

Learn the art and tradition of maple sugaring at a hands-on, family-friendly event at Bancroft Memorial Library on Sat., Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., hosted by local historian Kelly Merchant.

Learn the basics of tapping maple trees, including how to identify suitable trees, when and how tapping is done, and how sap is collected and transformed into delicious maple syrup.

This timely late-winter program offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with local history, seasonal practices, and the natural landscape while gaining practical knowledge about one of New England’s sweetest traditions.

Participants will tap trees around the Bancroft Memorial Library and enjoy tasting a few syrup samples.

Registration is required for this program. Please see the Event Calendar online at www.bancroftmemoriallibrary.org to register, or call (508) 634-2209 for assistance.
