UPTON – The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a merit-based program that provides tuition at a Massachusetts state college or university. Seventy-three Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School (BVT) seniors – four of whom live in Hopedale - are the proud recipients of an Adams Scholarship. The award allows these students to further their vocational and career training with additional education, advanced training, and credentials.

Hopedale recipients include Ella Foster, Evan Griffin, Edward Holland, and Shiv Patel.

The first-time score on a high school MCAS exam determines eligibility for an Adams Scholarship. Adams Scholar recipients receive free tuition for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts public college or university, renewable for eight consecutive semesters or four years. Recipients must use the tuition credit in the first fall semester following their high school graduation and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better.

"The Adams Scholarship reflects our students' commitment, dedication, and desire to put forth their full effort on exam day," said BVT Superintendent-Director Anthony E. Steele, II. "We're proud of their accomplishments and excited for our career and life-ready seniors to benefit from this scholarship."
