Ninth Annual Fairy Walk was Magical

By Susan Manning

Staff writer

Imaginations young and old turned out this summer for the ninth annual Friends of Historic Hopedale Fairy Walk.

Organization President Tracey Philips said the walk, as usual, was a success.

“Thank you for another magical (there just isn't another word to describe it) day at 2025 Hopedale Fairy Walk!” She said in her annual thank you letter.

Philips said they were about 40 houses this year.

“This was our 9th year and we had about 40 houses built for the walk this year. A great turnout despite the sprinkles the first half of the day. Nothing stops our fairies and magical fans from visiting,” she said.

Pleased with the turnout, Philips said the kudos should go to those who build the houses and those who volunteer.

“This event is A LOT of work and to be honest, in the days leading up to it, I get pretty tired and start questioning why I still do it after 9 years.

“And then the day before the event arrives and my very dedicated (but VERY small) team of volunteers start to show up to help with the monumental task of physical setup, and the next morning 7am arrives and they show up again, 8am the very talented vendors start driving in (despite the forecast), then our sweet house builders bringing the stars of the show...and then (and I literally just got choked up as I'm about to write it) 10am and you all came!

“I actually got to be at the entrance this time at opening and watch you all come from so many different directions (again, despite the forecast) to participate in this wacky idea I had 9 years ago.  And those of you who come in costume, I adore you!

“Seeing you all, kids to adults, show up and interact with each other and enjoy each others company and find like minded souls, it is amazing,” said Philips.

And in case anyone is wondering, yes, there will be a 10th annual Hopedale Fairy Walk, June 13, 2026. Next up for the Friends of Historical Hopedale: the Winter Stroll and Shop Hop on Dec. 6. Interested businesses should reach out by mid-October to [email protected].
