Feb. 11 Special Town Election seeks $4.1 million override to fund new school roof
By Theresa Knapp
The Town of Hopedale will hold a Special Town Election on Feb. 11 to see if the town will approve a Proposition 2 ½ override “to pay for the bond or bonds issued in order to pay the costs of installing a new roof on the Hopedale Junior-Senior High School, including the payment of all other costs incidental and related thereto, approved by the November 26, 2024 Special Town Meeting.”
The election will take place in the George A. Draper Gymnasium at 13 Dutcher Street between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
In November, voters unanimously agreed “To appropriate a $4.1 million debt exclusion to install a new roof at the Junior-Senior High School. This money would be used in addition to $1.8 mil appropriated by Town Meeting in 2023.”
The question must also be approved at the ballot box, in order to go into effect.
