Please note that per the Hopedale Board of Health and Hopedale Select Board, all library visitors, age 2 and above, must wear masks and maintain social distancing protocols while in the Library, regardless of vaccination status.

Browse Our Catalog At Home

Are you tired of winter? Stuck in the house with nothing fun to do? How about checking out what we have at the library for DVDs, books on CD and our newest addition PUZZLES?

You can sit back, relax and browse our catalog by location to pick out something new to do!

Here’s how……

 

Go to the Hopedale website - Click Library - click Catalog - click Browse Catalog.

 

Choose Advanced Search and click the Numeric Search tab. In the Field box click on the dropdown menu and choose Call Number (Shelf Browse). In the Identifier box type DVD A and click Search if you would like to browse our DVD collection.

 

Not in the mood for a DVD? Type CDBK A  in the Identifier box then click Search and take a look at our books on CD collection. We have titles by popular authors such as David Baldacci, John Grisham, Chris Bohjalian, and Danielle Steel. Audiobooks are wonderful for a long ride!

 

How about checking out a puzzle? It’s great family fun on a snowy, blowy day! You don’t have to rush. Take your time and enjoy yourself! Just type PUZZLE in the Identifier box, then click SEARCH and browse our puzzle collection.

 

Please make sure the Search Library box is set for Hopedale to browse our collection.

 

The Library has something for everyone… and it’s always FREE!

 

Ongoing Monthly Library Events

 

Helen Symonds Book Group

The Hopedale Book Discussion Group meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00pm in the Bancroft Memorial Library meeting room. New members are always welcome. If interested in joining the group, please leave your contact information at the Circulation Desk.

 

The group will meet on Wednesday, March 2 at 1pm to discuss The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. "Hannah brings Dust Bowl migration to life in this riveting story of love, courage, and sacrifice.” - Publishers Weekly

 

Join the group on Wednesday, April 6 at 1:00 pm to discuss a literary classic, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, near New York City, the novel depicts narrator Nick Carraway’s interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession to reunite with his former love, Daisy Buchanan.

 

Wednesday Needlework Group

Join us for an evening of needlework every Wednesday night from 6:00pm until 7:45pm. Bring your latest project. No commitment required – come when you can!

 

Friends of the Hopedale Library

The Friends of the Hopedale Library are pleased to announce our March events. Join us on Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 pm for Celebrating Ireland in Story and Song. Celebrating Ireland in Story & Song is an hour-long program celebrating the music, hilarity, and dance of Ireland. Musician Phil Edmonds, Kevin Fallon, and Mary King share songs, stories, and Celtic music on the harp, tin whistle, button accordion, fiddle, and more. Families and all ages are welcome. Mary King also teaches a beginning Irish step 1/2 hour before the program, so come early. Registration is required. To sign up for this free event, please call the library at 508-634-2209 or stop by the upstairs circulation desk. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hopedale Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

 

Please join us Wednesday, March 16th at 6:30 pm for a free live and virtual Homebuyers Seminar with Sara Pellegrini. Considering homeownership? Learn crucial information about the buying process. A local loan officer will be our special guest. There will be a Q & A after the presentation. This event is FREE to attend but registration is REQUIRED. Call 508-634-2209 to register. Zoom links will be sent out after registration.

 

Are you interested in joining The Friends of the Hopedale Library? The Friends meet the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. New members are always welcome! Please call or stop by the upstairs circulation desk to join.

 

The Friends of the Hopedale Library support the Library by providing funds for equipment, materials and programs to supplement the regular operating budget. They offer adult events September- June and fund the children's summer reading and other programs. Hopedale Reads

In honor of the 118th birthday of Dr. Seuss, we will celebrate reading on Saturday, March 5 from 12:30-1:30pm. Mrs. Kraimer will share her favorite Dr. Seuss book and parents are invited to participate in reading to the group. The program will conclude with a free raffle for Dr. Seuss goodies. This program is for ages 3 and up and registration is required. Please contact Mrs. Kraimer at (508)634-2209 to register.

 

 

 

 

Welcome Spring!

Join us on Saturday, March 19 from 11am-12pm for a spring story and a very special craft, a mini birdhouse decoration. For ages 5 and up, please register with Mrs. Kraimer at (508)634-2209. Thank you to Mary Alice Gruppi for donating the mini birdhouses!
