Alumni Association Scholarships Presented
Despite challenges arising
from the Covid-19 pandemic, in
2020 the Hopedale High School
Alumni Association continued
its 85-year tradition of providing
scholarships for deserving graduates. This year's scholarships,
presented by Alumni Association
President Karen (Rose) Mazzarelli, totaled more than $80,000,
including $30,000 to 10 members of the Class of 2019 who
attend college.
The Philip Roberts Memorial
Scholarship in the amount of
four hundred dollars to a student
who has enhanced the school
with their musical ability is presented to Emily MacDonald.
The Henry L. Cyr Scholarship for patriotism and service to
their school, community and to
our nation in the amount of five
hundred dollars is presented to
John Hagan.
The Shoghere Markarian
Scholarship in the amount of six
hundred dollars to two students
who have been active in band or
chorus, and who will attend a college of music or minor in music,
are presented to Alexandra Sousa
and Sarah Szemethy.
The Patrick Keaney Memorial Scholarship in the amount
of one thousand dollars presented to a student with financial
need, who plans a career in law
enforcement or criminal justice,
is awarded to Nathaniel Bean.
The James S. Midgley and
Elizabeth K. Midgley Memorial
Scholarship in the amount of
one thousand dollars to a student
who demonstrates leadership
qualities, initiative and accomplishment in the arts and sciences
is presented to Sarah Szemethy.
The Regina Stare Memorial
Scholarship in the amount of
one thousand dollars to a student
who plans to pursue a degree
in Education, and is involved in
community service, and extracurricular activities related to
helping others, is presented to
Santina Altamarina.
The Albert C. Sayles Scholarship in the amount of one thousand dollars to a student with an
interest in mathematics, and who
shows leadership on and off the
athletic field, is presented to Daniel Liberatore.
The Class of 1970 50th Anniversary Scholarship in the
amount of one thousand dollars
to a student who is the child of
a Hopedale High School graduate, who has made a difference
through their concern and help
for others, is presented to Jacob
Wilson.

Scholarships in the amount of
one thousand dollars each for
academic achievement, leadership and service, are presented to
the following six students:

The Alumni Scholarship in

dollars for academics, character

The Alumni Lucy Day Scholarship in the amount of two
thousand dollars for academics,
leadership and service, is presented to Kaylee Soares.
The Glendon and Dorothy
Horne Memorial Scholarship in
the amount of three thousand
dollars for academic excellence,
leadership and service is presented to two students:

Madison Duprey
And finally, the Alumni Association is pleased to present the
Glendon and Dorothy Horne
Memorial Scholarship for academic excellence, leadership and
significant personal achievement
in the amount of five thousand
dollars each is presented to the
following six students:
