Jul 01, 2020 07:56AM ● By Susan Manning, Staff writer

Last month a peaceful protest was held in the center of Hopedale. Those gathered marched from the Hopedale Junior Senior High School, to the Hopedale Park. They knelt for nine minutes to honor George Floyd and others who were killed in acts of police brutality. On site, or members of the Hopedale Police Department, who supported this peaceful gatherIng and ensured that all who attended were safe.

The Hopedale Police Department posted a statement about the protest on its Facebook page:

“As many of our residents know, tonight there was a peaceful protest that took place in honor of Mr. George Floyd. Members of the Hopedale Police Department and several surrounding departments were on scene to ensure the safety of everybody involved. We would like to thank all of the citizens for protesting peacefully. We at the Hopedale Police Department love our citizens and stand with you 100%. The incident that happened in Minnesota does not in any way reflect the members of the Hopedale Police Department. Our officers take pride in our great community and will  continue to enforce laws and interact with our residents as much as possible. Again we thank you for everything! #justiceforgeorge #hopedale #communitypolicing #weloveourcommuity.”
